Former SEBI Chairman M Damodaran said a company's board must ask questions to address legitimate interests of shareholders. Quoting an example from the Satyam Computers corporate governance scam which inflated profits, Damodaran said, "[The firm] claimed to have ₹7,000 crore cash...when it didn't even have ₹700." "Because no questions were asked...life went on till...the bubble burst," he added.
